Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions Farm It Up gets about its online farmers market

  • Are all of the farms in Farm It Up's network local to Atlanta/Georgia?
Yes, all of the farms on our website are local to the Atlanta area. Some products offered by some of the farms are actually sourced from farms outside of the Atlanta area however, never outside of Georgia. The farm products that are not sourced directly from the farm that's selling them, will note in the description which farm the product is originally from. Country Gardens is currently the only farm that offers products from other farms in addition to its own selection. Click here to view information about those farms
  • Does Farm It Up store the food at a warehouse before taking it to the customer?
No, Farm It Up does not store any of the farm products, but rather has the products transported from the farm, to the customer. This ensures ultimate freshness of farm products for the customer. We have no warehouses
  • Does Farm It Up have the farm products transported to the customer the same day that the order is picked up from the farm?
Yes, Farm It Up transports the farm products to the customer the same day that the order is picked up from the farm
  • Does the customer need to be present when receiving their order?
It is recommended that the customer is present for the delivery of their order to ensure maximum freshness. However, the customer has the option at checkout to select if they would like the drop off person to wait (max 2 mins.) for them at the door or leave the order at the doorstep.
  • Does Farm It Up take extra safety precautions when delivering meat?
Yes. Firstly, just after the farm has the meat freshly butchered, the meat is packaged in airtight wrapping and immediately frozen, per USDA law. When Farm It up has the meat picked up from the farm, the meat part of the order is placed in a separate insulated container with ice packs. If the customer meets the delivery driver at the door to receive the delivery, then the meat is delivered in a regular plastic bag. If the customer does not meet the delivery driver at the door to receive the delivery, then we ask that the customer leave a cooler outside for the order to be left in. If this is not possible, then the driver will place the plastic bag, with the meat, into a paper bag and leave it on the doorstep. If the customer requests it, the driver will leave the meat portion of the order at the door in an insulated bag, zipped up, which will have one or multiple ice packs in it.
  • What precautions should customers take when receiving meat?
It is highly recommended that the customer is present for the delivery of their order in all circumstances, but even more if the order contains meat. If it is not possible for the customer to be present, Farm It Up still includes procedures to ensure that the meat is delivered with ultimate freshness. We ask that if the customer cannot be present for the delivery of an order containing meat, that the customer leave a cooler outside for the order to be dropped off in. Even when the meat is delivered to the customer completely frozen, the customer should handle the meat as if they are receiving it thawed to a refrigerated temperature, in order to ensure maximum safety
  • If I had meat delivered in an insulated bag, what do I do with the insulated bag afterward?
We ask that you leave the insulated bag outside of your door on the day of your next delivery and the delivery driver will pick it up when they drop off your order. If possible, we ask that you would wipe out any condensation from the inside of the bag after removing your food items from the bag
